MonsterMods Error Codes

Most information has come from XboxExperts, so thank you. I have also browsed a couple of forums to obtain information.
For many errors, look out for damaged, missing or bridged components. For any error, an x-clamp fix or reflowing every major part of the Xbox can’t hurt.

--==SECONDARY ERROR CODES==-
The specific type of hardware failure can be determined by a "hidden" error code
Turn the xbox 360 on, and wait 'till the red lights are flashing.
Press and hold the sync up button (the small white one), while holding that button press the eject button.
The LEDs will now blink the first number in the code (as described below).
Release the eject button and press it again.
The LEDs will now blink the second number of the code.
Release the eject button and press it again.
The LEDs will now blink the third number of the code.
Release the eject button and press it again.
The LEDs will now blink the forth number of the code.
Release the eject button and press it again.
The LEDs will go back to the 3 red flashing lights.
You should be able to determine the difference between the 3 flashing lights and the error code lights by the rate in which they flash.

Here is how you interpret the LEDs to get the code number:
All four lights flashing - 0
One light flashing - 1
Two Lights flashing - 2
Three lights flashing - 3

0001: Most likely a faulty power supply or board. The board could have missing or damaged components. Check for damage along the main lines such as 12V, usually related to a damaged USB port. If you’ve recently done an x-clamp fix, your heat sinks could be shorting out components such as resistors. A reflow of the board may fix this, or if you just did a reflow, it could be the problem. If you have used a spring washer that's touching the motherboard, it could be digging in. Remove it.

0002: Again, the board could have missing or damaged components, most likely capacitors and mosfets. Known to be a problem within the CPU area. Try reflowing or x-clamp fixing the CPU.

0003: Check for missing or damaged components. Again, within the CPU area. Try reflowing or x-clamp fixing the CPU. Also known to be caused by the popcorn effect on the GPU (bad reflow).

0010: Check for missing or damaged components in the Southbridge area. Try the Southbridge Clamp Fix or a reflow of the Southbridge.

0011: Make sure there is a good contact between the dies and heatsinks with an even amount of paste. Try x-clamp fixing the CPU and GPU or reflowing them. If still unfixed, cut the temperature trace.

0012: GPU overheating. Try and x-clamp fix on the GPU making sure there is good contact with an even amount of paste. If still unfixed try a reflow.

0013: RAM overheating. Best option is to get the RAM reflown. If you do a penny trick, it will damage the motherboard! If still unfixed try an x-clamp fix.

0020: Unsolder any additions to the motherboard. Most likely to be a damaged solder joint under the GPU, RAM or CPU. Try an x-clamp fix and/or reflow. Could also be caused by damaged or missing components.

0021: Problem with the Southbridge. Look for damaged or missing components. Best option is to reflow the Southbridge or try a clamp fix. May also be a problem between the GPU and Southbridge, make sure the connections are clean and apply more pressure with an x-clamp fix towards the Southbridge side. It could also be problem with the DVD drive. Make sure the cables are good and connected well. If you’ve recently flashed or modified the DVD drive, then this could be the cause.

0022: Perform an x-clamp fix on the GPU and CPU, better yet, get them reflown. If still unfixed, reflow the (H)ANA chip. Make sure there are no damaged or missing components around the GPU, CPU & (H)ANA . Also make sure the lines between the GPU, CPU rror. Make sure there is no damage to the USB ports or pins.Try fixes for the (H)ANA, Southbridge and GPU.

0101: USB error. Make sure there is no damage to the USB ports or pins. Disconnect any USB devices. If you soldered anything to the USB, take it off and look for shorts. Pin 8 is already bridged, un-bridging it could sort the error out.

0102: One of the famous’. An x-clamp fix should easily sort this error out as it is most likely to be GPU related. Make sure there are no missing or damaged components. After doing the fix and the error persists reflow the GPU & RAM, and if still unfixed, reflow the CPU.

0103: Similar to 0102. Make sure the GPU is getting clean power and there are no damaged or missing components in the GPU, CPU & RAM area. Known to be a bridged capacitor.

0110: Similar to 0102. Reflow the RAM & GPU. Tightening the screws of the GPU heatsink towards the RAM could temporarily fix the problem. Possibility of it being the Southbridge if nothing has worked. Try the clamp fix or getting it reflown if all else fails.

0200: Not fully understood. Try the solutions to 0102.

1000: Modchip or flashing related. Make sure it is connected properly. Otherwise remove (and/or reprogram)k, when it d:[/b] Similar to 1000.

1002: Simlar to 1000.

1003: Hard drive error. Keep trying to make it work, when it does, back up your files as it is likely to die again.

1010: Hard drive or Southbridge error. Most likely a problem with the Hard Drive. Deleting the cache or un-needed files should sort it out. Save all your data to a memory card or to your computer. Make sure there aren’t any damaged or missing components around the Southbridge and Hard Drive port area. Reflow or clamp fix the Southbridge.

1011: Hard Drive error. Re-plug your Hard Drive in. Similar to 1010.

1012: Hard Drive error. Try the fixes for 1010 and 1011.

1013: Update error. Download the newest updates and put them in via CD or USB. Hold down the sync button while it starts. If you’re still getting the error, check for missing or damaged components around the Southbridge area, reflow or clamp fix the Southbridge.

1020: Try possible fixes from 1013. Possibly a problem if you installed a modchip.

1021: Try the Southbridge clamp fix or reflow the Southbridge. Make sure there aren’t any missing or damaged components in the Southbridge area. Also try the x-clamp fix.

1022: Try a different video cable. Most likely a problem with the GPU or (H)ANA chip. Try the x-clamp fix or get them reflown.

1023: Make sure the DVD drive is plugged in properly, re-plug it. Make sure the cables are good. If you recently flashed the drive, that could be the problem. Make sure there aren’t any missing or damaged components around the Southbridge. You can do the clamp fix or get it reflown.

1030: Damaged network chip. Make sure there’s no visible damage. Try doing the fixes for the Southbridge.

1031: Similar to 1030. Make sure there are no missing or damaged components in the Southbridge area.

1032: Unlucky.

1033: Hard drive error. Similar to 1010.

DVD Errors:
Open Tray Error: A laser tweak can be the solution as it's got weaker over time or it's a problem with the Southbridge. A Southbride clamp fix (above) may fix it or a reflow of the chip.

Not Reading Discs: If you don't know the origin of the xbox and drive and if they have been opened then it could be a different DVD drive has been placed in and the key has been lost which means you have an overheating DVD player, unfortunately. If you know the DVD and Motherboard are 'married', then chances are a cleaning of the laser or a tweak should fix the problem.
