| Hey guys, I'm going to make the aftercooler -( http://www.rbjtech.net/xbox/aftercooler/aftercooler.htm) I'm looking for cheap parts instead of buying packs of 100 for my first one as a test. If you have any of the following, please reply: NE556 Timer - 14pin 14 Pin DIL Socket BC549C transistor 1 MOhm variable resistor/potentiometer 1N4001 diode (x3) 1N4001 diode 5v(6v) DPDT Miniature Relay 10 Way PCB Socket 10 terminals for above 10 Way Plug PP3 9v Rechargeable (170mAh) 18 ohm resistor For free would be great (remember it's development of the xbox) Happy to make offers. Cheers, Deers | |

| why not just attach a timer to the off button? after you are done playing, go back to dash, then have a 5 min timer.... plenty cool by then..... | |

| Hm, I like my homemade 555 timer aftercooler circuit better If you're willing to wait a week or so I'll probably be able to sell you a built circuit on a custom PCB for less than the parts for that one... Or at least give you the schematic with more common/cheaper parts. I'll let you know when I get the normally-closed relay, that's the last part it needs. | |

| I'm visiting family and there's a big electronics supply shop around here that I'll check for the relay. In case they don't have it, does anyone know where to get a 12V or less normally-closed (small) relay? Edit: Nevermind, I just realized DPDT relays have a NC and a NO pin and I could just use the NC pin. | |

| I got the relay I needed, and I got the parts to make several of these circuits. Would anyone be interested in buying one assembled or in kit form with a PCB and all components (and instructions)? I'm not looking for a commitment, I want to know how many boards I should etch just in case. | |

| I'm failing at my attempts to etch a board for the circuit, but it can be made pretty small on a prototyping board like this one http://www.hndme.com/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=1606&idcategory=79Here's the schematic, the two things on the end are relays, one to trigger the 555 and the other to put power to the fans. This would be wired to 5V standby with the trigger pin wired to a switched 5V point. You put power in one of the OUT points and the fan lead to the other. Let me know if something doesn't make sense. If I ever figure out how to get my boards to etch properly then I can sell you one pretty cheap, but it might be a while... | |

| ... but can you do it for free? I want to do this myself (or for free ). Plus I want to learn how to do this right. Do you use ferric chloride? | |

| Why don't you just use a strip board/veroboard? | |

| That's what I'm going to have to do for now, but it makes it about twice as big as it would be with an etched board. | |

| I'll get exact dimensions after I actually assemble it all, but I'm thinking about 1.5" x 2.5" vs less than 1" x 1.5" with the PCB. | |
