I am in mourning...

...because I officially have no XBL anymore. Well, I can still log in and look around, do Netflix and stuff, look at my friends list, crap like that. But what good is that junk without gameplay? Your thoughts and concerns are appreciated.

I am deeply sorry for your loss. Hopefully they get the new satallite shit going to you can actually enjoy your console.

Well that stinks but, WELCOME TO MY LIFE!

If I want to get live I teather 5 Cellphones and the satilite to one computer, then connect that though a shared connection to my xbox. If I do it in the middle of the night when usage is at a minimum I can sometimes get online for gameplay.

I'm telling you man, if we get like a couple thousand feet of CAT6 and about 20-30 repeaters I can hook you up...

cat5 cable is good for around 90ft i would use optical cable

Better yet.... Just borrow the internet from big ben. Just make sure to clear it with the Hawk first.

How do you tether them together, and how would that change anything? The signal still has to go from land to satellite, back down to the relay on land, then to the XBL servers, then back to the relay, then up to the satellite and finally back down to earth again. The relay being land based is where the problem comes in. They told me very soon, within the next year, they will have a satellite based relay so this problem will be eliminated and we can play XBL, yeah! I'm talking about WildBlue.

Sweet!, I'm gonna call M$ and wildblue for a timeline on it.

You use the five cell phones as one modem to be used for the upload and part of the download and then the wildblue for the download. I dont know how it works, my cousin set it up.

They both declined to comment , the wildblue lady fl;at out said they werent woking on anything but after a few questions she said that if anything is in development, she'll email me when theres news about it.

The Xbox person said they didnt know, and refused to transfer me to someone who would.

Well, I knew MS wouldn't know anything, it's a WildBlue deal. The guy I spoke to said the technology was already in production and ready to go, but they were waiting on the govt to give the permission. Since the govt regulates all satellite launches, you have to get approval and that normally takes 18-24 months. He said since they had already launched previous satellites, it probably wouldn't take that long, but most likely would be a year or so before anything happened. Of course, he could have been making all that up, but I will say this, it was not just a sales pitch to get me to sign up, I was already in the process of signing up and this was just a conversation we had during the whole process. He did sound very knowledgeable, as we talked a lot about satellite technology, Xbox Live, etc, etc.

Thats cool. That'd bring a whole new era about. I think any sort of cable system would start to become obsolete, almost like wired internet did.

I know I like wired too. The general population on the other hand does not.

ZI jsut talked to wild blue guy and he said that there was a recent launch or three new satilites, He didnt know for what but he said they're be coming online in the next month or two.

ok, just chiming in here. not sure what dis wild blue is. but my friend uses his one blackberry as a modem and can go on live. not sure how, but im sure u can figure it out.

Wild blue is a satilite internet service.

Im assuming you friend has a stron cell signal at his house and is using a 3G network? Out here I only have 1st gen digital and that signal is spotty.

Wow, I have a Blackberry, a 3G network, and full all bars signal, I wonder if I could do that? I have never used my BB as a modem, I don't even know how.

Connect your blackberry to your computer (Either via bluetooth or USB)

Connect to the internet via the VZ Acess manager software.

Plug the Xbox directly into the ethernet port on your computer and in the network device center right click the blackberry modem and share it.

Then go to live as normal.

yeah, that sounds similar to what he does. hes actually ran multiple xboxes off of the one cell too. lol.

2 way. Dial returns died out years ago

How is sprint coverage in that area? I know a couple of tricks with sprint's data and with nextel/boost as well.
