Partial Controller Sync?????

OK, I know I've been off the forums for awhile, but now I'm back from school for the summer.
My latest project is putting my 360 into an original xbox case. What I'm doing is frosting the xbox jewel and putting the rol under that and i have it hooked up so you push the jewel to turn it on and it lights up all cool and whatnot. my issue is my controller only partially syncs to the system, I had to run a ribbon cable to put the rol where it is and It all works and the controller turns the system on but nothing more. If i press sync on both the system and the controller it will flash all 4 lights on both to recognize the sync, but no player 1 light lights up.


Are the pinouts different for the mobo versus the rf board?

I would guess that whats happening is this:

The RF board is what the console uses to communicate with the controller, and if you relocated it it might not be getting a solid connection between the RF board & the motherboard, therefore hindering the connection between the controller & the motherboard. SO... double check all your solder connections & make sure they are solid. That would be my first guess.

yeahh. i posted this up on llamma too btw. I dont know? Do I need to run a ground wire too? I just wish there was a pinout diagram somewhere online for it...
I've resoldered both ends twice. looking with a crappy magnifying glass i dont see any bridges but tomorrow (today) I'll try again i guess
